Welcome New AASCF Member Stampede Ranch for Kids
The ranch is approx. 100 km from the City of Calgary, 60 km west of High River and 160 km north of Lethbridge.Stampede Ranch for Kids is a residential home for children and youth with complex behavioral needs serving boys aged 8-14 years who generally have status with Child and Family Services. They do accept out of province youth on a case by case basis.

First Call for Children in Budget & Program Review May-25-11, Kathy Vandergrift CCRC
The CCRC proposes that the First Call for Children principle be applied in the upcoming program review and budget cuts to reduce the deficit. A letter to the Prime Minister also proposes the use of child impact assessments before the adoption of new policies that affect children.

New! Serving Communities Internship Program (SCiP) Awards Alberta’s post-secondary students a $1,000 bursary for completing an internship with a nonprofit/voluntary organization. SCiP also leverages the sector’s ability to meet their missions by engaging Alberta’s most significant asset – educated youth.
Alberta Children and Youth Service has provided a NEW grant for Child Development Supervisors that includes up to $350.00 for the fiscal year – April 1, 2011 to March 31, 2012. The intent of this grant is to help Child Development Supervisors with the cost of attending approved workshops, conferences and post secondary credit administration course that enhance child care program leadership skills, offered at recognized post secondary institutions in Alberta.

The Red Deer Leadership Centre and District Foundation and the United Way of Central Alberta have partnered to offer the course.The mentorship program is geared toward further developing the skills of executive directors of not-for-profit, human services agencies
New! On May 20, 2010, the University of Alberta approved a ground-breaking proposal for the
“Embedded Graduate Credit Certificate in Community-Based Research and Evaluation (CBRE)”.
Offered by Community-University Partnership for the Study of Children, Youth, and Families (CUP) in partnership with the Alberta Centre for Child, Family and Community Research (ACCFCR),
The certificate will be offered at the University of Alberta, Faculty of Extension. The certificate is designed to support graduate students’ efforts to develop their capacity to participate in and lead community-based research and evaluation projects.
INT-D 500: Introduction to Community-Based Research and Evaluation
As the core course of the new certificate, INT-D 500 offers a graduate-level introduction to conceptual and methodological foundations of community-based research and evaluation in the health and social sciences, particularly pertaining to the development of children, youth, and/or families.
