AASCF News
Big Thanks to all our delegates, sponsors, presenters, speakers, entertainers, committee members, special guests, event planner, donators and volunteers!! Our 4th Annual Conference was a big success and we couldn't do it without you!
It was great to see so many of you and a pleasure to meet those of you I hadn't before. I was very happy to hear the positive feedback regarding the ease of use and available resources on the AASCF Website. This website is member driven so don't hesitate to share your feedback, suggestions or submission with me - email sdurrant@aascf.com
One thing I discovered is that many frontline employees and in some cases program managers were unaware of the resources available to them on our website so please take a minute and let your staff/directors/volunteers/students and others know that these resources are available to them at www.aascf.com or they can scroll down the right column of this newsletter and click directly on any topics of interest.
New AASCF is pleased to welcome Dr. Bill Madsen back to Alberta and invite you to attend!

Human Resources and Skills Development Canada Homelessness Knowledge Development Funding
Provides funding to stakeholders, including not-for-profit organizations, researchers and academics, to develop knowledge on homelessness issues. HKD funds projects that focus on data development; research and analysis; identification and sharing of best practices; and knowledge dissemination.
Under the renewed Homelessness Partnering Strategy (HPS), measures to strengthen the relevance of research funded by the HPS are being introduced to meet communities’ knowledge needs concerning homelessness. In addition, emphasis is being placed on ensuring that findings are widely disseminated so that communities are able to identify problems and develop effective solutions.
ECVO is Looking For a Few Good Programs
ECVO has partnered with the University of Alberta to develop a series of case studies on learning centred organizations. They are looking for organizations who:
provide continuous learning opportunities
use learning to reach their goals
link individual performance with organizational performance
foster inquiry and dialogue, making it safe for people to share openly and take risks.
embrace creative tension as a source of energy and renewal
are continuously aware of, and interact with, their operating environment.
If this sounds like your organization and you are willing to dedicate a approximately two to three hours to the student researcher as well as provide relevant documentation and resources, please contact Mandie at 780-421-1660 or workforcestrategy@ecvo.ca by Feb. 3, 2012.
