Sector Updates
The application period for Canada Summer Jobs 2012 will be from February 1 to February 29, 2012.
Canada Summer Jobs is a Government of Canada initiative that provides funding to help employers create summer job opportunities for students. It is designed to focus on local priorities, while helping both students and their communities.
National Commission on Community Health and Social Services
CCSD and other national and provincial organizations wishing to join in, may organize a National Commission (a “non-royal” commission) on services for people who need the support of their community (including both publicly-mandated and community-mandated services). The Commission will be a catalyst for the thoughts and actions of thousands of local service organizations to tackle longstanding problems and impending new challenges, to improve service systems and the service environment. Several national organizations have already made input into the development of this approach, and have agreed to receive and consider recommendations consistent with their mandate and field of interest. Others are welcome!
The Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) has placed a priority on developing a National Housing Strategy and is undertaking a comprehensive national environmental scan to support its planning and policy work in housing. More specifically, the project
Turning the Key: Assessing Housing and Related Supports for Persons Living with Mental Health Problems and Illnesses, will inform the MHCC on current housing and community resource needs (including clinical and non-clinical supports) for people living with mental health problems and illness in Canada. Their research team is seeking input on the experiences of housing and related supports for adults living with mental health problems across Canada.The National Network for Mental Health will be hosting a series of online discussions (webinars) to hear your perspectives

Government of Alberta News Release December 2011 - Alberta continues to forecast strong job growth
The Alberta government is forecasting that employment levels will remain strong over the next decade in the province with thousands of jobs generated, while challenges to grow the labour force will remain. The new Occupational Demand and Supply Outlook 2011-2021 forecasts that Alberta will generate more than 606,000 jobs and roughly 492,000 new workers will join the labour force by 2021.Occupational Demand and Supply Outlook 2011-2021
